How to measure for your blinds in 5 easy to follow steps

  1. Firstly decide if you want your blind to be installed inside the frame (inside mount) or on the architrave (outside mount)
  2. If you are installing (inside mount) measure the width between the recess of the window at the top , middle and bottom - now out of your 3 measurements - write down the smaller of these measurements. Repeat for the height of the window.
  3. If you are installing (outside mount) again take 3 measurements of the width of the window , placing your tape on the outer edge of your architrave , again take 3 measurements and write down the large of these sizes. Repeat for the height.
  4. Make sure you use our "How to measure guide" - Download or View Now

Special tricks from our professional consultants when measuring

  • For inside mount , ensure that you have enough depth in the recess for the blind, generally aluminium windows are suitable, older timber window may have a centre mullion down the window which will prevent the blind from being installed correctly
  • For inside mount , generally if you have standard windows once you install your blinds it may be difficult to take out your fly wire screens.
  • For outside mount - Ensure that the architrave is free from any obstructions , for example in a kitchen you may have a cupboard opening onto the window area or even a bench that comes in slightly over the architrave.
